Holocaust Commissions
The World Jewish Congress has led the ongoing, global initiative for Holocaust restitution since the end of World War II. The fight continues today.
Three successful international conferences on Holocaust-era issues --- London in 1997, Washington in 1998 and Stockholm in 2000 --- have brought together more than 44 nations and dozens of non-governmental organizations from around the world. These conferences have raised the consciousness of governments and the international business community on the importance of education and addressing looted Holocaust-era assets, including bank accounts, personal effects, real property, art and insurance policies.
The Stockholm International Forum in 2000 produced a final declaration that sets the standard for generations to come in regard to Holocaust remembrance, education and restitution.
Around the world, many countries and NGOs have set up commissions and other forums to support their individual initiatives of Holocaust remembrance and restitution.
